GREEN LAKE LOCAL ARTS GALLERY IN THE NEWS

2007 SEASON PRESS RELEASE

May 4, 2007
Visitors to Green Lake WI this year will have the opportunity to meet two new residents to the area. Jack Zellner and partner Linda Graves have been contracted to manage the Green Lake Local Arts Gallery at 524 Mill St, in downtown Green Lake.
Zellner, born and raised in Wisconsin, brings 40 years of experience in the art and design world to the Green Lake Local Arts Gallery.
Gallery owner Carl Hruza has called on the resources of Zellner and his partner Graves to help develop the gallery into one of Wisconsin’s premiere galleries for fine art.
Now in its second year of operation, Hruza believes the location is ready to accept work from a wider range of artists, yet still retain its theme as a place to view local art. To this end well-known Wisconsin landscape artist Rob Price will be present in the gallery throughout the Memorial Day weekend to share his thoughts on art with gallery guests. Other artists with a strong Wisconsin heritage include -

  • Gene Hamilton - Silkscreen
  • Geri Schrab - Petroglyphs
  • Jack Zellner - Watercolors
  • Kae Taylor - Batik Painted Fabric
  • Leslie Trewyn - Acrylic
  • Linda Graves - Watercolors
  • Rebecca Andersen - Oils
  • Sarah McGowan - Oils / Mixed Media
  • Rob Price - Landscape (review)
  • Jean Accola - Watercolors
  • Kristine Moser - Textile Art
  • Mary Kuzman - portrait, landscape
  • Thomas Detwyler - Photography

The Green Lake area has a long heritage for promoting the arts, whether painting and drawing or the performing arts. The community of Green Lake is actively pursuing the development of art opportunities and has a variety of art events on its calendar for the 2007 season.

"To be asked to help in this important endeavor is significant to me,” Zellner said.
“We have been refurbishing the gallery through the off-season and working to find new artists who can bring more variety and also raise the profile of the Gallery."

Zellner’s own work has focused heavily on water and sailing themes for several years now, lending itself perfectly to the mood of the area. His watercolor painting “Fishing” is featured on the cover of the 2007 Green Lake Magazine and a limited edition run of signed Giclee prints has been created to commemorate the event. These and other prints, available exclusively at the Gallery, provide a more accessible price point for people wishing to explore art on a limited budget.

The Gallery layout will be more accessible this season, a place where anyone can stop by and spend time appreciating the best that Wisconsin has to offer. “The presentation will be constantly changing over the summer season, making frequent visits to the gallery a delight for your eyes and your senses” Zellner said.
In addition to providing static displays of art, the Gallery scope will be developed to include custom framing, interior design services and various art classes.
Interior designer and artist Linda Graves will be on-hand through the summer to help gallery clients select and place art in their homes.
“Art must be a meaningful compliment to life in a person’s home. When a person views a painting or sculpture or art object, it should easily be understood, communicating joy through color, texture, and composition,” Graves said.
Selecting art for the home that helps the homeowner design and enhance their personal space is an important component when people buy art. “We are looking forward to welcoming people from the Green Lake area and visitors alike”, said Graves.

The gallery is currently open by appointment through May, officially opening full-time for the summer season on Memorial Day weekend. Featured artist events will be held frequently during the summer months, primarily on Saturday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. where the emphasis will be on introducing artists to the Green Lake Community.
“ Plan on stopping by the gallery before dinner on Saturday’s and enjoy the engaging viewpoints of these wonderful artists,” Zellner said.
The gallery will host its first open house for the season featuring guest artist Rob Price on Saturday evening, 26th May.
